May 26, 2012 - I asked myself that, when I first watched this, (about 5 months ago). Life has changed for the positive, I changed jobs, started a new business and am training for the marathon (just did a 10K 2 weeks ago).... It's good to get a slap from reality now and then.... I also bought his book, 'The last Lecture' on itunes - worth every penny. :)

May 25, 2012 - Hey! thank you for this useful video. By the way, I notice lots of people keep on talking about dating course known as Zuntramax Secrets (do a search on google), but I'm not sure if it is good. Have you thought about Zuntramax Secrets? I've heard some extraordinary things about it and my cooworker finally get laid by hot girl using it, but he refuses to tell me :(

May 24, 2012 - I don't think we should to begin to speculate and question his childhood life. Its pointless and serves no purpose in this discussion because honestly we both didn't know him. And i agree with you having a good attitude isn't enough, because your attitude may get you the chance. But you still must be prepared in order to really impress that person. So i can see where your coming from. Maybe your looking a little to deep into his character and not enough into the actual speech itself?
normalguycap Says:
May 23, 2012 - Why are you happy he's dead? You didn't like the video then?
normalguycap Says:
May 23, 2012 - Amen to that.
normalguycap Says:
May 23, 2012 - Dude, there is a lot wrong with that statement. Everyone wants their dream, that's why they are dreams. He got his through a lot of help that not many get in their lifetime. Wanting it has no true bearing on achieving it. His message isn't even new. This stuff has been said time and again by loads of more impressive people.
normalguycap Says:
May 23, 2012 - He got things handed to him as far as we know. We have no information what he did to get the advantages that he explained later. He even made a point that he was lazy for a period of his life. He got lucky and it worked out after that. Besides, don't you find people with terminal illness usually have some achieving dream story and feel good message? Maybe that's fate.
normalguycap Says:
May 23, 2012 - Not really if you pay attention. He's calling attention to that despite his ill health. He's not making fun of it. That would disrespectful.
normalguycap Says:
May 23, 2012 - But we don't know how he acted when he was younger. All we know about him is how he is in this video. He comes off as abrasive to me. He might have been a different person when he was younger and changed as he got nagged and forced to do things his teachers wanted him to do. I understand your point on attitude however, but that's not enough in the real world. It really isn't. He's influenced people sure, but then again this is the feel good speech and most people wouldn't think deeper.
normalguycap Says:
May 23, 2012 - Do you consider yourself in a fit shape?
Matt Bay Says:
May 23, 2012 - "If that's the way you see it. He did directly say that he was more fit than the audience and pointing out flaws doesn't seem to be a way to get your audience to listen" It was a joke did you not laugh cause I did.
Matt Bay Says:
May 23, 2012 - Anyone can reach there dream buddy just depends if you want it.

May 23, 2012 - Because of this speech I went out and bought his friend's, Jesse Schell's, book on game design, and have now decided to stick with it, even though my mother has been threatening to kick me out of the house, for not joining law school, med. school, or anything else "proper".
doctorwhymagic Says:
May 23, 2012 - Yeah, when you work hard all your life you get NOTICED and people will help people that are WORTH the effort.
doctorwhymagic Says:
May 23, 2012 - He's making light of his ill health you idiot!

May 22, 2012 - His book "The Last Lecture" is worth reading. In my opinion, it is even better than this beautiful lecture.
lilkiller20 Says:
May 22, 2012 - Well you would have agree that the people you meet and the people who favor you are based on who you are, and what that person likes in a person. If i walked around upset 24/7 I'm sure not a lot of opportunities would come my way either. But i think him being the positive person he is put him in a position to succeed. Even if his speech wont work for everyone( which i don't believe) he has still influenced 62,176 people for the better, which is more then what a lot of people can say. Yes Twice
normalguycap Says:
May 22, 2012 - Oh I didn't say nor mean everything was handed to him. By his own words he talks about certain opportunities or jobs that he was basically given. Did you watch the whole thing? It's in the later half I think. Regardless, my point is, his speech about achieving dreams will not work for everyone and in fact, very few; people will not be as lucky as he to meet the people he did who favored him as they did.
batdk12 Says:
May 22, 2012 - who the fuck can dislike this?
lilkiller20 Says:
May 22, 2012 - Hmm i guess we would have to agree to disagree. Just one question? How did you come to the conclusion that everything he has earned was handed to him?
normalguycap Says:
May 22, 2012 - If that's the way you see it. He did directly say that he was more fit than the audience and pointing out flaws doesn't seem to be a way to get your audience to listen. One thing that I find hard to digest is how he talks about this stuff, yet most people don't have the advantages he was clearly given with no effort. Practically no one gets a professor that tosses opportunity in their laps, and when they don't take it, that same professor forces it on them.
lilkiller20 Says:
May 22, 2012 - Your kidding RIGHT? He has cancer and he was just showing that you shouldn't have pity on him while he stands and gives his speech...
