May 26, 2012 - It's not that tip that is painted. Pencils either have the eraser in the back or they don't. The ones that don't are the ones that are painted (the tip where the eraser would be).
Apr 24, 2012 - No, that is how trees are preserved. The cedar is useful meaning that growing cedar is financially viable. The more useful wood is, the more will be planted.
