Apr 19, 2012 - not necessarily, it depends on the bikes. my old (2007) 600 kawasaki was much more comfortable and easier to ride around town than my current Ducati 1198. Night and day...can't say that I've ridden a lot of liter bikes, but the ones I did were a pain to ride in town because none of them want to go under 35 mph. they're mostly made for the track (assuming you're talking about the sport/race bikes).
Apr 19, 2012 - wrong. a liter on the street is easier to ride than a 600. more torque, less shifting. common knowlegde. they also tend to be more comfortable.
Apr 12, 2012 - True, I am a big fan of electronics like TC and ABS etc. To me it's not about mastering it, but about the feeling you are driving something crazy, but still something you are controlling (yes, with TC and ABS etc. I still consider it controlling). But I agree with you. Think I misunderstoud your first comment.
Apr 12, 2012 - Exactly. Once the suspensions are good all motorcycles can only turn so fast. The motor just determines how fast you get from one corner to the next.
Apr 12, 2012 - Hell I will probably buy a liter naked bike or RC51 or something one day. People can buy whatever they want. But people sound stupid as hell crying about electronics getting in the way of them "controlling" their liter bikes. ALL the systems are defeatable. And they can save your ass, even if you are God and not pushing it.
Apr 8, 2012 - Bring me a CBR 250 and GSXR 1000 and I'll show you just how much of a clue I have. Obviously in a straight line a 1000 rapes a 250, I'm talking about on a twisty mountain road, which is where it matters.
Apr 4, 2012 - You can't even legally use a 600 to anywhere at all near it's potential on the street. All you need is a 250. A good rider on a 250 can easily keep pace with a bunch of squids on 1000's anyway.
Apr 2, 2012 - Pretty tired of people saying its just someone "posing" when they buy a liter bike, because it is "useless". Well guess what, it is for your own FUN, you don't have to ride it to it's limits to be allowed to buy it. Ofcourse you don't need it, you don't even need 600cc's, but it's fun to get something which is just crazy fast.
Apr 2, 2012 - I'm sure it's a great bike and I always loved the looks of the Suzuki, but they aren't very innovative are they?
They have been looking pretty much the same for years and years and years and enginewise there hasn't exactly been a revolution going on. Not with any of the Japanese bike manufacturers actually. Well, maybe Kawasaki.
I think the lads in Japan need to get their shit together if they want a healthy business.
Mar 30, 2012 - All bikes have traction control...It's called a clutch lever.
Seriously, if you need electronic traction control for street riding, then you are a lunatic.
ABS is OK, but it adds weight and significantly shortens battery life. Also some ABS systems aren't that good. I rode a bike with ABS and tried to test it by attempting to lock the rear. The system released so much pressure near the lock up point, that the bike overran by 2-3 metres. Build up your skills by practicing emergency stops instead.
Mar 23, 2012 - FUCK ALL OF THOS ELECTRONIC AIDS.. LET'S SEE HOW GOOD RIDERS REALLY ARE WITHOUT ALL OF THAT CRAP HELPING THEM OUT. I LIKE THE OLD DAYS OF BIKES.
Mar 18, 2012 - totally agree with you.i own a k5 1000 from the beggining and i've never ride a litter bike with so power mid-range.Greetings from greece
Mar 5, 2012 - Say what you will bout 2007-2012 GSXR1000's, I'll keep my 05-06 GSXR1000 and wait for newer GIXXERS to get a clue !!!!! Suzuki has turned the beast into a PIG !!!! Then they shave 4 lbs. and brag. Mean while it's some 18 lbs. heavier than a 05-06 model. I haven't raced a 07-12 model that could keep up with me !!!! From 2nd gear to 6th gear I'm 9-13 bikes ahead. Why shift all the power to the top ? Let the racers degree thier cams for that and give street riders that low-mid grunt.
Mar 4, 2012 - You guys vids are getting a ton better.
As for mastering a liter bike, I think the few folks who actually have are WSBK racers. Anyone else, ESPECIALLY anyone who has never been to a track, is just talking. Hell even a modern 600 is pretty serious stuff. A liter 4 banger on the street is largely ego
Mar 4, 2012 - suzuki wake up, it's 2012, not 2008 anymore! European Superbikes are nowadays both technically and optically far more attractive
Video Details
The Suzuki GSX-R1000 now produces the most midrange of any 1000cc superbike. What's more, weight has dropped by 2kg and it's gained Brembo brakes and comes with revised big piston suspension. But without any electrical aids like traction control can the new GSX-R cut it on track?
