May 24, 2012 - doesn't electricity kick the combustion ? i don't know anything about engines but i think that's why a car has the battery (except for radio and other stuff), to put the pieces in movement right and after they sustain themselves after the car is up and running ?
May 23, 2012 - Explain how the combustion starts. Like what kicks all this off when you start the car and initiate throttle? What kicks off the combustion? I'm new to cars
May 14, 2012 - here is a more comprehensive 2 stroke one with great running diagrams of bith types at start of video "youtube.com/watch?feature=endscreen&NR=1&v=P-WYdrRKQvs"
May 14, 2012 - Here is a better one for kids,"youtube.com/watch?v=M1h9eU9YH5o&feature=fvst" I was meaning more to adults in my previous statement by the way, yeah kids need a little more info than this as you need to have some idea that engines need air and fuel and blow exhaust gases before this vid to make any sense!
May 14, 2012 - I teach kids that have been kicked out of school and who struggle with the more academic subjects , as most of them are keen on cars i was trying to find a vid that would explain all the basic workings of an internal combustion engine , Any useful advice would be gratefully recieved
May 14, 2012 - Not sure about that , As Cobra 4993 says this is made for people who know (quite) a little bit about it already , and to someone who does this vid would make perfect sense . to some one who does not it will remain almost wholly uninteligible , and again a what bit does what type commentary would have to have helped.
May 14, 2012 - Here is a hint for all think this is not clear enough without more info! Intake, Compression, Combustion, Exhaust, is the four stroke cycle :)
May 14, 2012 - I am sorry to say but if can watch this all day and still be none the wiser all the commentary in the world is probably not gonna help you understand the concepts of an internal combustion engine! This animation gives a pretty clear picture of what is going on.
May 13, 2012 - This is a video,to introduct you on HOW an engine works, and what are the parts of an engine.
You get the filosophy. If you allready know this filosophy, just be proud of you and keep this video for your son.Is there a possibility to watch this video as a newbie and not learn everything???Thats the succes of this video.Experts go to manuals.
May 12, 2012 - i'm only 15. and trust me, i know alot about cars already. my strong point is mechanical parts, figures from mostly BMW'S. BMW is the easiest to learn and by far BMW is the best car maker
Apr 24, 2012 - I have a similar (GM) 4 cylinder, the only difference is my serpentine belt is much less complicated, there's only like 3 things on it.

Apr 24, 2012 - Yup, spark plugs are in the middle up top, the wires a little bit lower that go in first are probably sensors of some sort.
